「まあまあの映画」の紹介

メラニー・スムーターはまだ若いがニューヨークでファション・デザイナーとして成功をおさめている。彼女の彼氏で、ニューヨーク市長の息子はある晩、メラニーに結婚を申し込む。そしてメラニーはそれを承諾するのだった。ただ彼女にはまだ婚約者に伝えていないことが…メラニーは翌日故郷のアラバマ州に戻り、以前の生活に終止符を打とうとする。その生活から逃げるかのように、メラニーは数年前ニューヨークにやって来たのだった。
　この映画ほどくだらなくて退屈な恋愛物語はそうないでしょう。脚本はくだらなく、その他にも映画をダメにする要素があります。それは市長役のキャンディス・バーゲンの演技です。明らかに、この人は市長という柄ではないですね。

Melanie Smooter is a young, successful fashion designer in New York City. Her boyfriend, a son of New York City mayor, just asks her to marry him. And she says yes. There is something that she hasn't told her fiance about. Now, she goes back to her hometown to close the last chapter of her previous life, from which she wants to get away.
     This is one of the silliest and most boring romance stories. The story is bad, and there is something else that makes the movie terribly bad. It's Candice Bergen's performance. Apparently, she is unfit as the mayor of New York City.
