OrganizeX - FAQ

MacHouse Mac freeware

1. Is OrganizeX compatible with Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard?

Yes.

2. What is your upgrade policy?

Consider it free for good.  Unless further development requires a major OS architectural change (for example, switching from Classic OS to Mac OSX), we won't charge you a dime for upgrades.

3. I'm reinstalling my OS.  What should I back up?

If you are using OrganizeX Lite, you only need to back up the database file (LiteData.ozx).  If you are using OrganizeX, you need to back up not just the database file (MyData.ozx) but also the Documents entire folder.  The path is Users > User > Documents > OrganizeX.

4. How do I switch to v. 1.7 that supports styled text?

Older versions don't support styled text, and v. 1.7 supports it.  The problem is that v. 1.7 cannot read unstyled text.  By switching to v. 1.7, you will not lose one single record.

In order to use styled text, we advise you to run two versions of OrganizeX, like v. 1.7 and 1.6.4.  First, duplicate the data file.  If you are running OrganizeX Lite, then the file name is LiteData.ozx.  If you are a licensed user, duplicate MyData.ozx.  Two versions of OrganizeX must reside in different locations (separate folders).  Now, you are all set to run two versions of OrganizeX.

Then you must manually copy Notes data (Press Command + A and select all and then press Command + C.) and paste it into the same text field (Press Command + P.) on the new version for every record where you have Notes data.

5. What happened to OrganizeX Lite?

OrganizeX Lite was downloaded about 3,000 times in 3 months and 1 week.  Unfortunately, none of the users ever gave us a favorable feedback.  So we've decided not to make it available to regular visitors, including those from MacUpdate, who never appreciated OrganizeX Lite.
