Mac software MKVToolPack Matroska

 

Utilizing several command-line tools (CLT), MKVToolPack lets you create and manipulate multimedia files.  MKVToolPack users can rip media tracks out of Matroska container movies.  They can use these ripped raw stream tracks to create MP4 container movies.  Also, use MKVToolPack to edit MP4 container movies by copying, cutting, pasting and trimming frames or inserting audio tracks. Or create Matroska container movies with raw stream clips.

  • Pack MP4: Users can export a maximum of five media tracks into an MP4 container movie.
  • Pack MP4: When dropped onto the media drop box, the application will automatically run to find out if imported AVI movies contain DivX-compressed tracks, which cannot be used to make MP4 movies.
  • Pack MOV: Edit MP4 movies by copying, cutting, pasting and trimming frames and then save changes to convert them into MOV container movies.
  • Pack MOV: Users can add audio tracks to imported MP4 movies.
  • Pack MOV: After editing the movie, re-compress it with QuickTime's export function.  (No QuickTime Pro ungrade is required.)
  • Pack MKV: Users can export a maximum of three media tracks into an MKV container movie.

MKVToolPack relies on three command-line tools.

      2. GPAC Project (MP4Box)
      3. Mediainfo

  1. Pack MKV: MKVToolPack accepts subtitle files with the extension of ASS as well as SSA.
  2. The window location will stay the same after switching from one to another component.

  1. Improvement: Dragging and dropping a Matroska container move (.mkv) onto the application icon (or double-clicking on an MKV file) will lanuch MKVToolPack and let it read tracks with Unpack.
  2. Improvement: Dragging and dropping an MP4 container move (.mp4 only) onto the application icon (or double-clicking on an MP4 file) will lanuch MKVToolPack and let it read the movie with PackMOV.
  3. An insignificant fix is done.

 

 

1.1.2 to 1.2.3 (October 31, 2009)

  1. Improvement: Users can now use a drop-file function to import movies on Pack MOV.
  2. Bug fix: The Save As function did not actually allow users to save movies on Pack MOV.
  3. File info, Movie info, Track info all show file sies not just in the long length but also in the long length.
  4. File info, Movie info, Track info windows will be neatly lined up to the left of respective component windows.
  5. More numerous bug fixes and improvements

  1. Fix on Unpack: If an Matroska container video contained a track whose video stream is compressed with MP1, it would not be correctly identified.
  2. Unpack All, 5th component added, is added.  Unpack All lets licensed users batch-rip audio, video, subtitle tracks out of up to 15 Matroska container movies at a time.
