mBrowser

Mac freeware mBrowser

mBrowser is a file organizer especially designed to let users catalog video files with movie snapshots.  Users can open, launch, locate and trash imported movies easily.  Simply, create a movie album and then drag and drop a movie file, one at a time onto the drop box.

With Auto shot on, mBrowser will automatically take a screenshot of the movie you've dragged and dropped onto the movie drop box.  Then click on Launch to open the selected movie with a default application or click on Play to watch the selected movie directly through mBrowser's own movie player.

  • Supported multimedia formats for imports: 3GP, 3GP2, AVI, DIVX, DV, FLV, M4V, MOV, MPEG, MPG, MP4, SWF, WMV
  • Supported multimedia formats for Auto shot: 3GP, 3GP2, DV, MOV, M4V, MP4
(+ AVI, DIVX, MPEG, MPG, WMV for advanced version)

mBrowser is not an ordinary file organizer that lets you catalogue your movie files.  It has a built-in movie player for you to play back media formats such as 3GP, 3GP2, DV, M4V, MOV and MP4.  You can take a screenshot of any frame displayed on the movie player and send it automatically to Preview.  If mBrowser does not support the media type of the selected movie file, you can still launch it with its default application like QuickTime and VLC Media Player.

It's not just movie files on the hard disk drive that you can open with the movie player.  mBrowser also allows you to watch URL movies, movies that are streamed at remote servers.

By the way, you don't have to take a screenshot of the movie you are going to import for yourself.  Enable Auto shot and drag and drop a movie file onto the movie drop box.  And mBrowser will automatically take a screenshot of the movie for you.  You can even set the default position (number of seconds from the start) where a screenshot is taken for each movie.  So all you need is just a bunch of movie files.  Can a movie catalogue application any simpler than that?

mBrowser is currently available as a freeware title.  'Freeware' doesn't mean you own any part of this application.  It only means that you are allowed to use it after accepting terms of use.  There is no gurantee that it will function as it's supposed to.  We certainly have the right to not release mBrowser as a freeware title.  And we have the right to repackage it with new features and release it as a commercial product at any time with or without a prior notice.  And if you know you are going to call us a thief after changing the release format, please don't use it in the first place.

  • Do not complain about it in public.
  • Do not make us accountable if mBrowser doesn't perform to your satisfaction.
  • Do not distribute or redistribute it.
  • Do not open a support ticket for it at MacHouse Support.

  3. When the Delete button is clicked on with a movie album selected, mBrowser will delete an album folder instead of sending it to the Trash can.

  5. After creating, editing, removing a movie profile, the application will go back to the previous album folder.

  1. Auto shot is now capable of handling 3GP and 3G2 movies (.3gp, .3gpp, .3g2, .3gp2). Note that mBrowser's movie player cannot play back 3GP and 3G2 movies because their formats would break its user interface. The minimum width is 320 pixels.
  2. Users can now label URLs, and those labels will appear in the DropDown menu on the Toolbar and also in the menu bar (Movie > Open URL >)
  3. Users can now watch URL movies that are hosted at remove servers. (See Movie > Open URL > Open URL Movie or click on the uMovie button on the Toolbar menu.) Users can of course take screenshots on URL movies and send them to Preview.  Click here for more information on how to watch URL movies.
  4. Fix: Choosing Movie > Go to End actually sent the play head to the beginning.
  5. Fix: 'Sent Preview' now works without bothering to open Preferences once.
  6. Some more minor fixes have been rendered.
