Installing and uninstalling Junk-O-Magic Pro
Please read the README file that comes with the application.
A. Settings: If you open Preferences, you will find several tabs. Let's take a look at the second one from the left. If you want to resize web browser windows under Misc1 > Browser, you need to set the locations of the web browser applications. Once they are set, Junk-O-Magic remembers them.
Junk-O-Magic allows the user to generate 128 x 128 and 512 x 512 Mac icons under the Graphics1 tab quickly and easily. The user can also generate mask images. If they wish, they can also use Apple's Icon Composer to generate Mac icons. And Junk-O-Magic will give the user quick access to it if they set the location of Icon Composer. By the way, Icon Composer, a freeware title, comes with the developer's kit that is released by Apple, Inc.
Under the Screenshots tab, the user can change settings for desktop screenshots. The default path is set to Desktop. Click on the Set the button to change to the destination if necessary. And the default graphic format is PDF, which is a good choice. Or you can change it to a different one.
Remember that you must log out and then come back or restart the computer in order to make these changes take effect.
B. Finder1: Clicking on Finder1, you will find several tabs.
B-01: Extensions: The first one found under Finder1 is Extensions. Extensions allows the user to change the extension of files from one to another inside a specific folder or volume. Click on the Select button to locate a folder or volume or simply drag and drop one onto the drop box. Then enter extensions in the edit fields. For example, if you want to change the extension of files from jpeg to jpg, enter 'jpeg' in the edit field to the left and 'jpg' in the edit field to the right.
B-02: FileVizible: This component comes directly from Junk-O-Magic. So click here to go to Junk-O-Magic's User's Guide.
B-03: ChangeCase: This component also comes directly from Junk-O-Magic. So click here to go to Junk-O-Magic's User's Guide.
B-04: NewFolders: This component also comes directly from Junk-O-Magic. So click here to go to Junk-O-Magic's User's Guide.
B-05: fSearch: fSearch allows the user to locate a particular file or folder they are looking for. It's not very effective except that the user can specify a folder where a search will be performed.
B-06: fChange: fChange allows the user to serialize file names inside a particular folder collectively. In order to use it, drag and drop a folder containing files or use the Select button to locate it.
As shown below, there are three radio buttons. Choose Before if you want to add a number before the original name. If you choose After, then a number will be added to the end of the original name. And if you choose All, the entire file name be replaced by a number.
The minimum number of digits determines how each file will be numbered. For example, if an imported folder contains more than 100 files and you want the names of the first 9 files to start with 00x (where x is a number), then set it to 3. Also, if necessary, choose a separator to separate the original name from a number.
B-07: BatchZip: The name says it all. This component allows the user to convert folders into Zip archives. Drag and drop any number of folders which you want to convert into zip archives. Then simply choose a destination.
C-01: BatchUnzip: BatchUnzip does exactly the opposite of what BatchZip does. Drag and drop any number of zip archives onto the drop box. If you enable the Archive info check box and select a zip arichve in the list, then its content will be displayed in the Archive info window.
After selecting a destination where zip archives to be unpacked, click on the Unzip button. And Junk-O-Magic Pro will start unpacking all archives in the list one by one.
C-02: GetInfo: What this component does is simple. It will get you the file information on the selected file. It sounds like a trivial or useless function. But think of a situation where you have to get file information on a few dozen files at a time and record file sizes, creation dates and modification dates.
All you have to do is drag and drop any number of files and folders onto the drop box. And their paths will be displayed in the list box. Select any file in the list, and its file information will be shown below. You can use the up-arrow key/ down-arrow key to quickly toggle between files/folders. Click on any copy button to copy a file attribute to the clipboard if necessary.
