Image2Go - User's Guide

Mac software Image2Go

1. Installing and uninstalling Image2Go

Please read the README file that comes with the application.  Or click here to download one.

2. Introduction

What is Image2Go?  It's a Mac application that is designed to process multiple image files quickly and easily.  The initial release comes with 10 components, each of which represents a separate function that processes imported files and then export final files.

Image2Go is very easy to use.  All you have to do is

  1. select a function on the tab panel button (if necessary, click on the previous or next button at the bottom.)
  2. configure settings
  3. drag and drop image files

If you click on the Save button at the bottom, Image2Go will save your settings for that function.  And it will automatically load them when you launch the application next time.

3. Preferences

When you first launch any new application, it's always a good idea for you to open Preferences.  Okay, why not?  Let's open Preferences from the menu bar under Image2Go.  (See Screenshot 3-1.)

Let's see what we have under the Settings tab.  (See Screenshot 3-2.)  If you enable Run update notification, Image2Go will access our web server to see if there are any software updates available every time you launch the application.  Enable Require restart if you want to automatically let the application relaunch itself after you close Preferences.

Furthermore, there are a couple of boxes under the Settings tab.  The top one, which is labeled Default export folder, lets you select your default export folder.  Whenever you click on the Select button to set a destination folder, Image2Go will point to the folder you set here.  If no default folder is selected, then Image2Go will automatically point the destination folder to Desktop.

There's one more box.  The one that is labeled Safe name is used for particular components: Sqr512, Icon128, Icon512 and FavIcon.  These components share a common characteristic.  They will all end up creating a folder to which files will be exported.  And the folder will be named after the image file you drag and drop onto the dop box.  For example, if you drag and drop an image file named 'Image2Go.png' onto a drop box, the application would first create a folder named ''Image2Go.'  If there already exists a folder with the same name under the destination folder, it would be replaced by the one created by the application.  You can avoid an accidental replacement by setting a safe name.  As shown in Screenshot 3-3, if you enter '_333,' for example, Image2Go will append this affix to the file name to name a folder.
