1. Introduction: When you try to use Maps, Apple's default map application, there is no gurantee that you have WiFi access for it.  When you try to use it with your iPhone, who knows whether or not you are close enough to the nearest cell tower to get the phone signal.

The objective of Map-It! is simple.  It will let you save the current map as a picture.  And you can view a map as a picture even when you have no access to the WiFi or phone signal.  All you have to do to save the current map as a picture is to tap any of the empty slots.  There are six of them.  So you can store as many as six maps as pictures.

When you need to view a map as a picture, just tap one.  Is it easy enough for you?

2. How to use Map-It!: The application interface is quite simple.  Notice that there's a toggle control on the navigation bar at the top.  (See Screenshot 1-01.)  And there are three tabs on it.  Tap the + tab when you want to store the current map as a picture.  Tap the - tab to delete any of saved pictures.  And tap the v tab to view any of map pictures.

When you launch Map-It!, the map view at the top should show your current country.  So let's quickly set up the default geographic location.  Tap Settings over the navigation bar.  Now, you have the map view at the bottom.  (See Screenshot 1-02.)  Locate the only text field.  And tap it.  Then you will be prompted to enter a string.  So enter a geographic location.  (See Screenshot 1-03.)  For example, you can enter your country name like Japan or the name of your city like NY for New York City, London, Los Angels, Paris, San Fracisco.  When you are finished, tap the Set button right above the map view to test and see whether or not Map-It! can actually locate the area you've specified.  If the map view shows the right location, then tap the Save button.  Then the 'Saved...' label will appear, telling you that the specified geographic location is saved.  (See Screenshot 1-04.)  You can now tap the Back button over the navigation bar to go back to the main screen.

Going back to the main screen, make sure that the current tab is set to + over the top segment control.  Now, just pan the map with your finger.  Pinch in or out if necessary.  There are six empty slots, each of which has a big + sign, right below the map view.  When you have the right map, just tap any of the empty slots.  Then the tapped slots will be filled with the current map.  (See Screenshot 1-05.)

If you want to see any of the saved maps as a picture, use the top tab control and tap 'v.'  (See Screenshot 1-06.)  And the plus sign will be removed from each empty slot.  Now, just tap a slot with a picture.  And the top map view will be replaced with the selected, enlarged picture.  (See Screenshot 1-07.)  If you want to go back to the last step, just tap the Return button at the top.

You can easily remove existing pictures one by one.  Use the top tab buttons and tap - this time.  Now, an X will appear over each of pictures.  (See Screenshot 1-08.)  Tap any of pictures, and you will be prompted for confirmation.  (See Screenshot 1-09.)
